There is No School for students on Friday, February 14th and Monday, February 17th. Students return to school on Tuesday, February 18th.
Students at Wakanda Virtual Academy have done an outstanding job of embracing challenging tasks. We want our students to embrace the concept of challenge as an opportunity to learn something new and gain skills that will last a lifetime.
As we all know, pushing through challenging tasks is not easy, but it helps us get better. This is the exact mindset that we want our students at WVA to practice and build. Everyday, students encounter challenging tasks. It is our duty to continue to push students to embrace challenges from the perspective of continuous growth. If students take on challenging tasks everyday, the amount of growth that will occur is remarkable. At home, please reinforce this idea of pushing through challenging tasks with your children. Someone with a growth mindset that embraces challenge is someone with unlimited potential.
In this week’s newsletter you will find information regarding upcoming comprehensive assessments, upcoming days off for students, and our weekly shout-out.
3rd-8th grade students will be taking the term 3 reading comprehensive assessment on February 25th and 26th. Students will take the math comprehensive assessment March 4th and 5th.
Our quarterly comprehensive assessments provide students with invaluable practice prior to the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment. With this, please encourage your child to do their best on these assessments. Additionally, please ensure that your child gets a good night rest prior to the assessment.
This week’s shout-out goes to Mr. Abdullah at our Dawah learning site. Mr. Abdullah does a fantastic job of making connections with scholars, creating a welcoming and conducive learning environment, and supporting scholars.
In addition to the amazing work that Mr. Abdullah does in the classroom, Mr. Abdullah also manages technology needs for the Dawah learning site. Thank you for all that you do, Mr. Abdullah!
o maximize academic, social, and emotional growth, it is vital that students are on time to school. Our school day starts at 7:30am.
It is vital that scholars are present and on time on a daily basis to receive instruction.
Our goal as a school, it to have at least 80% of our scholars attend 90% or more of school days. Right now, we are at 74% of scholars attending 90% or more of school days. This is the same percentage that we were at last week. Please keep in mind, that the further we get into the school year, the harder it will be to move this percentage. With this, it brings even more importance for scholars to be in attendance daily. Let’s continue to work together to reach our goal of 80%!
Our mission is to deliver high-quality online instruction in reading, math, social studies, and science for kindergarten through eighth grade students..
